This archaeological location at Chandrapur district contains remains of 3000-year-old megalithic culture (iron age) structures also known as menhirs (tall stones at burial sites). 153 menhirs are anthromorphic (human shape) have been adentified. These type of strucryres are very rare in this region may be first of its kind in Maharashtra. Apart from Banwahi; other related sites of importance in nearby area are Dongargaon , Korambi , Hirapur (Chandrapur) , Tilota Khairi (Bhandara), Nagbhid, Bramhapuri and Chimur tehsil.
